Albuquerque attorney Geoffrey Scovil is one of the leading habeas corpus contractors for the State of New Mexico Public Defender Department. In his spare time, Geoffrey Scovil supports the Outpost Performance Space, a small, non-profit music organization that adds to a thriving local arts scene by bringing in performing musicians and offering classes to local adults and children.
The Outpost is home to many youth programs, including a youth opera workshop, kids’ variety show, and monthly teen talent showcase. In an effort to make sure that these offerings are available to all children, regardless of ability to pay, the Outpost has created a variety of scholarship and discount programs to help improve access. Generous donations by community members have allowed kids to attend programming at little or no cost. Children enrolled in classes are also given a gift certificate to see an Outpost event, helping to increase exposure to the many rich musical offerings the space offers. The Outpost is now able to offer $2,000 annually in scholarships to talented students of the Outpost Educational Program.
Geoff Scovil received a BA in history, philosophy, and ethnic studies from the University of Texas at Austin.
